Dear friend,

From Weston to Washington, I have been fighting to support the restoration of legitimate democracy in Venezuela and to address the unfolding humanitarian crisis in the country.

I hosted a community forum in Weston attended by hundreds of concerned South Floridians, and visited the Colombia-Venezuela border where life-saving aid is blocked from crossing into Venezuela.

I've met with Venezuelans in my community who escaped from repression at the hands of the Maduro regime, and Venezuelans living in Colombia after having fled violence, starvation, and lack of adequate medical care in their home country.

I've met regularly with Venezuelan Ambassador to the United States Carlos Vecchio to discuss the United States' strong support for legitimate interim President Juan Guaido and getting aid to Venezuelan people.

(Meeting with Venezuelan Ambassador Carlos Vecchio and Members of Congress)

I have also been working with my colleagues on a robust legislative response to the crisis in Venezuela. On Friday, three critical bills passed through the House Committee on Foreign Affairs :

In my district, foreign policy is domestic policy. For many South Floridians, the human rights abuses and economic crisis in Venezuela are deeply personal.

I've been working diligently on this issue for years, including holding community discussions , meeting with activists , and hosting a community forum with hundreds of South Floridians in 2017.

Alleviating this human rights crisis is a top priority for me. That includes extending Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelan nationals in the United States.

I will continue to work with Ambassador Vecchio, Congress, and the White House to support President President and provide necessary humanitarian aid to Venezuela .

Estimado amigo,
