CBS4 (WFOR MIAMI) Locals Gather In Wilton Manors To Remember Victims In Orlando Massacre By Mike Cugno WILTON MANORS (CBSMiami) — Locals in several South Florida communities came together to remember the victims of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. Locals gathered in Wilton Manors – known for its tight knit LGBT community – for a candlelight vigil Sunday afternoon. Hundreds showed up to pay their respects to the victims of the shooting that left at least 50 people dead including the gunman in Orlando’s Pulse nightclub. Local leaders like Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz led the vigil. Many of those who spoke at the vigil preached messages of love and hope especially in a month that celebrates LGBT pride. With many events going on in the next couple of weeks for pride month, the shooting hits very close to home. “It’s just an unbelievable situation that has happened in the state of Florida’s LGBT community,” said an attendee. Law enforcement says they will have stepped up security at the various pride month events in South Florida. |
