Wasserman Schultz: Republican Budget Ravages Medicaid, Explodes Debt, All to Fund Billionaire Tax Breaks

Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25) released the following statement after House Republicans assured Democrats that no further votes would occur tonight, then did a deceptive about face, and called a vote to pass a budget resolution that betrays middle class families to hand billionaires and big corporations more huge tax breaks:

“This Republican budget is a vicious scheme that makes Americans’ less safe, healthy, and secure – all so billionaires can get richer. This GOP rip-off does nothing to make life more affordable. It would steal nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid health care from families and seniors, undermine veterans’ benefits, and withhold food from hungry kids, so President Trump can hand more huge tax breaks to millionaires and big corporations. Worse, even if Congress funds vital needs that my constituents rely on, there’s no guarantee that Trump will even bother to follow the law.
