Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Today, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) will join Port Everglades and union officials to discuss how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law stands to help with the local port’s expansion plans, aid in relieving national supply chain issues, and generate quality new local jobs.

The Biden Infrastructure Law invests $17 billion in America’s port infrastructure and waterways to address repair and maintenance backlogs, and reduce congestion and emissions near ports and airports, and Port Everglades will be at the forefront of applying for those funds. The new transformational law is part of a broader effort to support the middle class, grow the economy, create good-paying American jobs, and show the American people that good governance works.

The legislation not only tackles the nation’s neglected infrastructure needs, but it also confronts supply-chain issues caused by the global pandemic, helping keep everyday costs down for all Americans. Today, Rep. Wasserman Schultz and other officials will discuss these solutions, and how South Florida’s international cruise and cargo hub is a key to unlocking them.
