U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz receives Influential Business Woman Award

U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz received the South Florida Business Journal's Influential Business Woman Award on Saturday during a Small Business Workshop she hosted at the Broward Convention Center.

"As a career public servant, Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a woman who helps her community's businesses thrive," said South Florida Business Journal publisher Melanie Dickinson.

The South Florida Business Journal hosted the 2015 Influential Business Women Awards on May 21 and presented the award separately on Saturday to Schultz, who could not break away from a critical vote in the House.

This program celebrated the achievements of 26 outstanding women leaders for their business savvy, inspiration and influence.

"We believe it is important to honor women in the workplace for their excellence," Dickinson said. "They are not only role models but strong mentors who guide and shape so many of others."
