U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) released the following statement in honor of the 12th anniversary of September 11, 2001: “Today Americans everywhere honor and remember all those we tragically lost during the September 11 terrorist attacks on our nation. We renew our vow to never forget what happened by lifting up their memories and retelling their stories so that their legacies may live on for generations to come. We also celebrate the American spirit and the renewed sense of purpose that united our nation on that day. “Today is also an important day to reflect on the resilience of America since tragedy struck our great nation 12 years ago. To all the first responders, who risked their lives and health, spending countless hours working to save lives, and to the more than 400 who died while responding to this tragedy, we are grateful. We commend our friends and neighbors who became extraordinary heroes in the face of unimaginable heartbreak. “And on this day, and every day, we thank the brave men and women in uniform who have fought, and continue their mission to keep us safe from terrorism and protect America’s freedom.” |
