Wasserman Schultz Lauds Swift Decision to Reverse UF Policy Barring Professor Testimony

The rapid reversal of this ill-advised policy will restore the pride and integrity of the Gator Nation of which I am so incredibly proud. Go Gators!

Washington D.C. – U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) released the following statement based on reports that University of Florida President Kent Fuchs would move to reverse UF’s decision to bar professors from testifying against the state:

“I’m truly thankful to President Kent Fuchs for having the fortitude and humility to push for a swift reversal of this misguided conflict of interest policy, and especially for not ultimately caving to the political pressures that Gov. Ron DeSantis regularly inflicts on Florida’s education system. The governor’s incessant hostility to facts and science, combined with non-stop bullying and threats directed at education leaders who just want to protect children, created this chilling climate of fear and suppression that, sadly, found its way on to one of the nation’s premier public university campuses. The rapid reversal of this ill-advised policy will restore the pride and integrity of the Gator Nation of which I am so incredibly proud. Go Gators!”
