I stood with the Argentinian Jewish community at the AMIA commemoration in memory of and to fight for justice for the 85 victims who were murdered and 300 injured by a Hezbollah truck bomb, 30 years ago today. The perpetrators must be held accountable and the families deserve justice. Read more »
For far too long, the United States did not live up to the commitments we made to all servicemembers in exchange for their sacrifice and service to our nation. That so many were forced out, were dishonorably discharged or even faced court martial, was a harsh injustice that must be righted. Read more »
President Biden's historic immigration announcement will improve countless Dreamers’ and American mixed-status families’ lives, while bolstering our competitiveness against our rivals Read more »
It has been three decades since the tragic AMIA Jewish Center bombing, yet there is still no justice for the 85 victims, the hundreds of injured, and countless people who were traumatized. With antisemitism on the rise around the world, this attack on Argentina’s thriving Jewish community must not go unanswered. Congressmen Diaz-Balart, Espaillat, Gonzales, and I are proud to honor the victims of this attack and champion justice for their loved ones. Read more »
Those are not ripped-from-the-headlines incidents from the pro-Palestinian protests at college campuses across the country this spring, where antisemitic rhetoric and actions were common. All reportedly took place at one of Broward County’s premier schools, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, described this week during a daylong symposium on combating antisemitism. Read more »
There is no equivalence between Israel and Hamas. Equating a democratic state with a terror group that rapes, murders, delights in acts of genocide and eagerly aims to maximize civilian deaths demonstrates the ICC's gaping moral failure. No other nation is held to this standard. Read more »
Today’s vote was a partisan stunt, which Republicans hoped would paper over their failure to provide aid to Israel for six months. I remain committed to working with my colleagues across the aisle on legislation and continued funding for our historic and vital partnership with Israel. This legislation did not rise to that standard. Read more »
I spoke with senior national security White House officials yesterday and I was assured that President Biden remains committed to defeating Hamas and defending Israel, as he did directly as our Commander-in-Chief by ordering U.S. forces to take down Iranian suicide drones targeting Israel. I proudly supported President Biden’s national security supplemental package to provide Israel with the means to defend itself after six months of stalling from House Republicans, who attempted to condition aid to Israel on IRS cuts, draconian immigration proposals and slash aid by 30 percent through force of law and who have defunded programs to fight rising antisemitism. The President should clarify his stance publicly and the U.S. and Israel should resolve this miscommunication privately. Read more »
After a dangerous, needless delay, I'm proud that a large, bipartisan majority of House Members passed a strong supplemental security package for our allies in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific. It was long overdue, as the Senate passed a similar package months ago. Yet I welcome Speaker Johnson's decision to end this horribly harmful holdup. Read more »
Venezuelans deserve real democracy, and I’m proud that President Biden took strong action today to help deliver it. I commend President Biden's decision to fully enforce the terms of the Barbados Agreement by snapping back sanctions on the Maduro dictatorship's illicit oil profits. I know the people I represent appreciate the Administration's commitment to amplify the voices of Venezuelan Americans who demand democracy. Read more »
